What is workflow orchestration?
Workflow orchestration coordinates the steps, agents, systems, approvals, and exceptions needed to carry out a business process. It tracks which work can proceed, which step depends on another, and where a person needs to intervene.
From a proposal to work across systems
An illustrative onboarding workflow might update a development plan in the HRIS, assign training in the LMS, and create a follow-up in the CRM. Orchestration keeps those steps connected to the same objective and approval policy instead of leaving the business owner to coordinate every handoff.
In Nodes, AI teams prepare the workflow with evidence and expected value. Actions requiring approval wait for the responsible reviewer. Already-authorized steps can continue within their configured permissions.
Completion and outcome are different checks
A workflow can complete correctly without producing the intended business result. Nodes tracks both: whether the work executed and what happened afterward. The shared context retains the relevant result for the next evaluation.
An exception, missing evidence, or proposed expansion returns through the agreed review path. Discovering another opportunity does not silently widen the workflow's authority.
