Nodes and Glean

What are the best alternatives to Glean?

Nodes may fit connected decisions and approved cross-system work; Microsoft Copilot Studio may fit a Microsoft-centered agent; Salesforce Agentforce may fit a Salesforce-centered workflow. Glean itself offers permission-aware search, an assistant, agents and tools that can act in connected apps. Compare the same sources, user rights, action and result in the selected configuration.

Fit suggestions are our reading of current product documentation: Nodes products; Microsoft Copilot Studio tools; Salesforce Agentforce platform; Glean Agents and tools. Confirm the selected configuration in your own test.

A team already using Glean may have the answer and action surface it needs. Test that configuration before adding another operating layer. Nodes is relevant when the job also calls for connected decisions, human judgment, approved work and later outcome history.

Configuration to compare: Selected comparison: Glean Search, Assistant and Agents with permission-aware indexing plus configured live tools for the same sources and actions. Confirm your deployment generation, connector setup, enabled tools and commercial terms. This page describes published capabilities; neither product was tested head to head here.

The alternative

Where Glean fits.

Consider Glean when staff need reliable answers across existing knowledge sources, or when its configured agents and tools already cover the task. Give it full credit for agent creation, live actions and permission controls; test the exact connector and tool configuration your team can deploy.

The Nodes case

Why evaluate Nodes alongside it.

Nodes Engine connects permitted records, local judgment, decisions and outcomes for an owned business responsibility, then coordinates approved work through tested connections. Compare the cost and effort of building that same response in your Glean environment. Nodes does not win merely because the task uses more than search.

What the current product materials establish

These are vendor descriptions, not performance ratings. Fit recommendations above are our assessment of those materials.

  • Glean Agents support both Auto mode for outcome-led work and Workflow mode for a fixed sequence. Agent roles and sharing permissions govern who can build and run them. Glean Agents documentation.
  • Glean connectors can index permission-aware content, provide live tools, or both. Indexing and live tool access have different behavior and setup. Glean connectors.
  • Glean tools can retrieve current data and perform writes in connected apps. Admins control tool availability, while configured permissions can allow a write or require confirmation. Glean tools and permissions.
  • Glean documents a Salesforce connector with permission-aware indexed and live data plus agent tools. Which operations are available depends on the connected configuration and user rights. Glean Salesforce connector.

Compare the configured work, not the category label.

Documented capabilities are a starting point. Run the same acceptance cases and record unknowns before making a purchase claim.

The business case

A production reference. A clear scope for your investment.

Results from insurance talent.

At one Fortune 500 insurance carrier, Nodes reports $1.58M in Q1 2025 net savings validated by the customer's CFO. The candidate-evaluation deployment's scope and measurement limits are documented.

Define the value for your responsibility.

Agree the business, cost and team-effort baseline and comparison period with operating and finance owners. Compare acting, waiting, gathering evidence and no change. Include implementation, infrastructure, AI, review, rework, adoption, governance, monitoring and relevant risks. Label estimates and disclose missing evidence.

Review delivery scope

Scope matters: the insurance result supports that deployment. Confirm the capabilities, connections and implementation requirements for your question. Agree source access, checking frequency, recommendation scope and permitted actions before work begins.

The same test for both options

Take an unfamiliar problem through the result.

Illustrative evaluation: a customer onboarding case is stalled. CRM status, a support record and the current requirement document disagree about which file is missing. The team may need to request a corrected document after review.

  1. Answer with the same rights

Ask both configurations what is missing as an authorized and a denied user. Inspect source citations, dates and any record each user must not see.

  2. Correct a source

Change the requirement document and check freshness, conflicts and whether the answer updates without hiding the earlier source.

  3. Perform the approved action

Have the owner approve a specific follow-up, use the permitted tool and confirm the write. Record any additional setup or human step.

  4. Check the customer result

Separate a created task from completed onboarding. Show how each option retains the later observation and handles a lesson that does not apply next time.

Use an authorized test environment. Compare actual business results, operating costs and team effort with the agreed baseline and period. Keep failed and inconclusive outcomes. Test retained learning against a prior or no-memory baseline. The owner uses agreed quality, exception and total-cost criteria to expand, hold or narrow delegated work; past approval never grants new authority.

Put the operating and exit terms in writing.

  • Confirm Glean edition, deployment generation, indexed connectors, live tools, authentication and permissions for the selected job.
  • Get current quotes for software, agent or tool usage, connector setup, infrastructure, support and customer administration. No public price is assumed here.
  • Ask each vendor for a sample export of relevant source references, configuration and decision or outcome history, and identify what remains usable without its runtime.

Nodes scopes the agreed business process. Additional agents, steps, or refinements inside that scope do not automatically add a charge; material expansion is agreed first. Include implementation, infrastructure, support, and retained customer effort in the evaluation. Review pricing scope.

Deployment can use Nodes Cloud, a single-tenant customer VPC, or customer-managed on-premises infrastructure. Verify the actual model and connector paths. The company-specific knowledge graph and business rules remain distinct from Nodes software. Continued runtime use, retention and transition follow the agreement. Inspect the security and ownership questions.

Bring one question, its accountable owner and the result you want to improve. No company data is needed for the walkthrough. The paid first decision brief provides analysis and recommendations; implementation is separately agreed. Historical Decision Replay is a distinct validation option.
